USA State Legal Online Gambling Casinos & Sports Betting in 2018

There is a major push taking place in 2018 by US states to pass legislation for legal online gambling in the USA. Online gambling has been a popular topic for quite some time now in the whole World. In the USA this subject has always been a complicated one since different restrictions and laws govern different states.

Online gambling is an extremely profitable industry for each of the states. Now, many state governments are taking the law into their own hands by working and creating new bills that will ultimately legalize this lucrative online casino industry within their state boundaries.

US STATES WITH LEGAL ONLINE GAMBLING

After Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware, Pennsylvania is officially the fourth state in the USA to offer legal online gambling after Governor Tom Wolf signed a bill that authorizes and regulates the online gambling industry.

The license fee for slots, poker and table games is set at 10 mil USD and the taxes are 54% for slots and 16% for poker and table games.

Pennsylvania residents already bet at unregulated offshore sites so legalizing online gambling is a step forward which will fill the budget hole and will offer the citizens protection.

Poker sites and internet casino brands are expected to launch their activity in 2018 but some experts believe this year will see major changes also in the sports betting sector with Nevada being the only state with legal sportsbook in the entire country.

NEW YORK ONLINE POKER

New York’s legal online poker hopes seem to have died of neglect in the state Assembly for 2 back-to-back years. This leaves Pennsylvania and Illinois as the only states that could potentially vote on legal online gambling bills this year.

It looks like the poker lovers might have to wait another year of legal limbo but unfortunately for them the poker’s opponents remained as obstructionist as ever. For the time being the future of this bill remains debatable, mainly considering what happened over the past two years.

LEGAL GAMBLING IN CALIFORNIA?

California is not ready to join New Jersey, Delaware, Nevada, and Pennsylvania and legalize the online poker industry. This is partly due to the growing hostility between local tribes and card room operators which makes it tough for legal online gambling participants to earn the 2/3 majority vote needed to pass the bill.

USA SPORTS BETTING REGULATION PUSH

With Nevada already having legal online gambling in the form of mobile sports betting other 18 states are likely to introduce the sports betting bill in 2018 with 11 of them having a great chance of passing legislation.

There are rumors saying that Massachusetts; Rhode Island; New York; New Jersey; West Virginia; South Carolina; Georgia; Florida; Illinois; Michigan; Iowa; Minnesota; Louisiana; Mississippi; Oklahoma and California are likely to introduce the sports betting bill with Indiana and Kentucky already taking a step forward and waiting for the approve.
